Temario del curso
The modules are focused on four main aspects: orienting students in their job search in Spain, providing in-depth teaching on understanding cultural differences, improving presentations and business meetings in Spanish and, lastly, developing negotiating skills.
Designed for small groups –with a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 students per group–each module can be taken separately, providing greater flexibility and offering lower fees if students initially sign up to take all four modules.
Module 1: Working in Spain This module is focused on developing skills and strategies required for planning job hunting effectively. The module covers the general and linguistic skills in the phases of self-analysis, planning, action to be taken and follow-up steps. It includes analyzing job ads, newspaper articles and interviews, drafting Curriculum Vitae and a letter of introduction, writing e-mails and preparing for a job interview. Module 2: Presentations and Meetings This module is aimed at professionals interested in developing their communications skills in a work or learning context. It analyses structures, participants, roles, the media and the different codes that are used in these contexts. The module is focused on practising communicative strategies, developing linguistic resources and producing written texts relevant for presentations and business meetings. Module 3: Negotiating in Spanish This module is focused on interpersonal and mediation skills. The aim of this module is to develop linguistic and strategic negotiating skills. It includes analysis and practice sessions covering different types of negotiation scenarios, roles and attitudes, providing training in discursive strategies and cultural differences as well as writing up reports. Module 4: Cultural Differences This module highlights the cultural aspects that accompany different linguistic situations and interpersonal relationships. It concentrates on developing intercultural skills in personal, public, professional and academic contexts, focusing language learning on the interaction between contact cultures. Culture shock, tolerating ambiguity, the relationship with time, space, jobs, values and norms are some of the points covered in this module
